They even help you follow those pesky early tracks before you have a monster identified. You can potentially use the air you get from hopping off a raider ride to mount a monster. You can instantly collect tracks that make you stop and wait for an animation. You can gather tracks, materials, use the capture net etc. You can head towards items or monsters or anything. I noticed you can't reload while on the back of a raider ride but you can aerial reload when you jump off the ride. So instead of drinking a pot and sharpening your weapon crouching there like a dumb you can do the same stuff while your newfangled mount transports you back to the action. They will track and chase monsters for you while you do most of the things you do after a monster runs. You can summon a ride if out of combat with an new item. If you've befriended an area's Grimalkyne Tribe you should be able to ride their small monster(ie basic jagras in ancient forest.) The ride is awesome.
